In this video tutorial, you will learn how to use the Planar Connection to assemble a component to a referenced planar surface so that the component moves along that plane with three degrees of freedom. In the Planar connection, there are two degrees of freedom in the referenced plane and one degree of freedom around an axis perpendicular to it. While creating a Planar connection, you need one constraint and three motion axis settings. The Axis Alignment constraint defines the parallel plane that the component moves along. The constraint is a single planar mate or aligns constraint that can be flipped or offset as required. The reference can be a selected planar surface or datum plane. You can use the Translation Axis 1 and Translation Axis 2 axis settings to define translational motion settings in the first and second direction for the connection, such as the zero position, regenerated position, minimum limits, and maximum limits.
