Grasmere, River Rothay, Rydal Water and Coffin Road walk

An easy circular walk starting from Grasmere village in the heart of the Lake District. We follow the lakeshore path around Grasmere then the footpath alongside the River Rothay to Rydal Water. You could pop into Badgers Bar for refreshments once you reach the road at Rydal. We walk through the grounds of St Marys Church at Rydal and on to Rydal Mount which was home to the poet William Wordsworth between 1813 and 1850. From here we take the Coffin Road / Coffin Route all the way back to Grasmere. When we reach the outskirts of Grasmere we pass Dove Cottage which is also where William Wordsworth lived with his family before moving to Rydal Mount.
