Start Fixin Yo’ Sh!T - https://MoveU.com The deltoid muscle is the shoulder muscle that is shaped like a cap where the arm meets the torso. Deltoid comes from the greek letter Delta which has a similar shape (equilateral triangle). It’s often illustrated as one muscle but it actually has three sections to it. The origins of the muscle are the clavicle, the acromion, and the spine of the scapula. The anterior, lateral and posterior aspects all come together laterally on the humerus (upper arm). Mastering the shoulder blade positioning that we teach may be a great preventative measure in decreasing deltoid pain and injury. Those who do repetitive motions with the arms may experience more pain and injury in the area, especially if their positioning is off during those repetitive movements. It’s rarely ONE movement that causes and injury. Of course, there are traumatic injuries, dislocations, etc, but most often it’s an accumulation of the wear and tear created by suboptimal movement patterns. People love to narrow down their diagnosis to one specific thing. They like to point to the pain and want someone to fix or work on THAT specific area. The reality is that it is often time a combination of multiple issues and a systemic, whole body approach yields the best long term results in treating pain and injury.
