The first of our videos from our Netherlands Adventure. Uploaded sitting in the IKEA by our DelftseHout campsite on our last full day in the Netherlands which has surprisingly good wifi speeds and cheap coffee, perfect! What better way to start a Netherlands adventure than with a parkun. Our first night’s camping was at Delftse Hout campsite and the DelftseHout parkrun was a mile from our camping spot so a perfect destination. So, leaving the tent to dry from the early morning dew, we headed to the start, on our bikes of course, we are in the Netherlands. Delftse Hout is wooded parkland area with a large man-made lake by which the parkrun goes. It’s actually a designated “nude recreation” area and we were warned of such in the briefing, I did think there might be some spots I’d want to make sure my camera wasn’t filming! The parkrun is a two-lap course mostly through shaded woodland but also a section running alongside the lake’s beach with beautiful lake views. It’s completely flat, perfect PB material if you hadn’t spent the night sleeping in a tent and with a long days travel the day before. Ewan gave it a go to begin with, but his legs weren’t quite playing ball and he decided to walk the second lap. One noticeable difference to UK parkruns is the much smaller event teams. There was just a Run Director (RD), Timer, Scanner and tail walker. No marshalls out on the course, navigate by following the signage that had been put out by the RD during setup. parkrun done (and no everyone we saw was fully clothed!) we headed back to the campsite, struck tent and headed off to Amsterdam on our bikes, where we were starting our big reason for being in the Netherlands, to cycle the Zuiderzeeroute a 275 mile cycle route around the IJsselmeer, watch out for the video of that soon. So, while many head to the Netherlands to tick off a ‘Z’ parkrun, just as we did last year, I would highly recommend visiting Delftse Hout parkrun if you get the chance, it’s a beautiful run, a friendly welcome from the team and the town of Delft is definitely worth a few days stay to explore. We stayed here last year when we ticked off our Z with Zuiderpark and fell in love with the town and this campsite then, I think we will be back again! Our weekends often start with parkrun. Iona is on a non-repeat parkrun tourism streak having now visited over 100 different places since she started parkrunning. But we don’t just do parkun and dash home, we love exploring the area and often use bikes and trains for our travels to keep our carbon footprint low and because it adds to the adventure too. When school holidays arrive, longer adventures are possible with Ewan and Iona both being keen cycle tourists and mountain climbers! So if you like heading outdoors and your idea of a perfect weekend includes parkrun, climbing a mountain or exploring new places on two wheels then we would love to have you join us on our adventures. We’d love it if you subscribed so you can follow our journey and hopefully be inspired to get out the door and have your own little adventures. Do like and leave comments on our videos too on questions you might have or ideas for places to explore or adventures to go on. =============================== Standard Filming Kit =============================== Fujifilm X-S20 with 18-55mm kit lens: https://amzn.to/45nb4NR GoPro Hero 10: https://amzn.to/3Jy1axA GoPro Media Mod: https://amzn.to/3JxeVga RØDE VideoMicro Directional Mic: https://amzn.to/45nb4NR SYNCO G2(A2) Wireless Lavalier Microphone: https://amzn.to/3rxcLZv ULANZ 59Inch Selfie Stick Tripod: https://amzn.to/4c73iKm Music from Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/referra...
