In this short video, you see only a very small part of the ancient city of Olympos, which is spread across a vast area. We watched the magnificent view from the castle ruins overlooking Olympos Beach. From above, we looked down on the Olympos River and the ruins hidden among the trees below. Later, we crossed the stream and walked along the path between the remains of the theater and the Roman baths. Crossing the stream once again, we explored the ruins surrounding the natural water sources. Olympos Ancient City was an important harbor city of ancient Lycia. Its location, where the river meets the sea, played a vital role in trade, transportation, and daily life in antiquity. The Olympos River provided fresh water and access deep into the city, while the Mediterranean coast offered safe anchorage for ships. The city is also famous for its long, turquoise-colored beach and its pristine coastline. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and forested hills, Olympos features hidden coves and quiet bays that add to its natural beauty. This unique combination of sea, river, and ancient ruins makes Olympos one of the most striking and atmospheric archaeological sites along the Lycian coast.
