Chiltern Railways Mk3 Farewell Railtour

22/2/26 March will mark the end of the Chiltern Railway Mark 3 set of coaches after 15 years with the company, with the replacements being recently transferred Mark 5 coaching stock from Transpennine Express. I had never been on one of these, having rarely travelled on Chiltern itself, so was treated by my dad to see what they were like for the first and final time. This tour was organised by the Branch Line Society and Chiltern Railway, starting from Banbury, and first going to Stourbridge Junction, becoming I believe to be the last Mk3 set to visit the station, with the last public one having past us on our way up. The second leg would take us to the Chiltern London terminus of Marylebone, before finally heading back to Banbury, naturally being a BLS charters, a few loops and crossovers were done along the way, as well as visits into depots such as Wembley and partially Banbury. These are very comfortable and smart coaches and will be a shame to see them depart, alas time moves on, I will be intrigued to see what the new Mark 5 sets are like, I think this is a bigger change than most given it is also a new company colour too and a departure in colour at that, I think it looks very nice though. I enjoyed my rare visit to the Chilterns.
