Following on from the previous video on the Gold Coast Light Rail ( • Gold Coast Light Rail Full Journey - Broad... ), we travel on the Gold Coast train line from Helensvale towards Brisbane. Under normal operation, the Gold Coast Line runs as a very limited stops service between Roma Street and Beenleigh, and then stopping all stations to Varsity Lakes via Helensvale where you interchange for the Gold Coast Light Rail. The service is classified as an interurban service, with all stops trains to Beenleigh running as a suburban service. Trains on the Gold Coast Line also through-run to the Airport Line, meaning a direct journey from the Brisbane Airport to the Gold Coast is possible. However, during my visit, the Gold Coast and Beenleigh Lines were closed between Roma Street and Banoon to facilitate Cross River Rail works. Trains operated all stops between Varsity Lakes and Banoon every 30 minutes with no limited stops services or extra services to and from Beenleigh, effectively combining the two lines into one, while the Airport Line ran as a separate service (Why was this even necessary due to this closure, they could have just kept running normally but only to Banoon?...) Therefore, in this video we take a much slower, all stops journey on the Gold Coast Line between Helensvale and Banoon, effectively acting as a Beenleigh Line train beyond Beenleigh but with an NGR which is not usually seen, before the section between Helensvale and Varsity Lakes is featured separetley at the end of the video. Unfortunately this means I did not get to travel the line between Banoon and Roma Street, nor film a separate video for the Beenleigh suburban services, but I guess there's always a next time! Additionally, several new infill stations are being constructed on the Gold Coast Line, with Pimpama Station opening recently on the 20th of October 2025, meaning that this video is already outdated (even though there were no new stations on the network for almost a decade beforehand).
