By conducting greenhouse experiments in Turkey, the authors demonstrate that applying this compost, especially when integrated with optimum chemical fertilizers, significantly enhances tomato fruit yield and revitalizes the biological properties of soil. Key indicators of soil health, such as basal soil respiration, microbial biomass carbon, and essential enzyme activities like catalase and dehydrogenase, showed marked improvement following compost application. Ultimately, the study advocates for a sustainable circular economy in greenhouse farming by transforming discarded organic biomass into a potent soil conditioner that reduces environmental waste and fosters long-term productivity.
