Targeting Diabetes in Bangladeshi-Americans: Community Health Workers as Bridge Builders

This interview showcases the DREAM Project (Diabetes Research, Education, and Action for Minorities) that seeks to address diabetes outcomes and health disparities in the Bangladeshi-American community in New York City. Dr. Nadia Islam, the principal investigator for project, introduces the community health worker model as a way to create a bridge between the community and the healthcare system. We then hear from MD Taher and Mamnunul Haq, two DREAM Project community health workers, about their successes with the community.
