Light and Legacy in the Footsteps of the Beloved ﷺ with Sidi AbuBilaal Yakub ------------------------------------------- Session 24: Migration to Abyssinia Abyssinia (the Aksumite Kingdom) was a major superpower of the time-politically strong, economically prosperous through trade, and culturally advanced. Recognizing its stability and justice, the Prophet ﷺ instructed some of his companions to migrate to Abyssinia to escape persecution in Makkah. The Negus (al-Najāshī), a just and righteous Christian king, granted asylum to the Muslim migrants. Angered by this, Quraysh sent a delegation with gifts to bribe the courtiers, defame the Muslims, and force their return. In the royal court, al-Najāshī listened carefully to both sides, questioned the Muslims himself, and recognized the truth of their message.
