Exploring in the west of the Peak District to the south of Three Shires Head. The basis of the route came from the guidebook (link below) but with some adjustments. Easy going until the approach to Three Shires Head when the trail gets rougher. It’s a perfect place to stop for lunch. Straight after there’s a challenging ascent around Cut-thorn Hill. Actually it’s worth looking at the guidebooks more carefully because some sections are a real pain when done in reverse to what’s suggested. This was the case on the return leg from Moss End Farm up to Roach End. Overall a mix of easy and hard sections. On the final section of off-road once again the lesson not to trust bridleways marked on OS maps without looking at aerial imagery at the same time; that was the descent from Morridge Hill.
