Theodors travels motovlog. This short series is about some sightseeing points in Saaremaa. In this episode I ride through Estonian Road Museums exhibit, unique in the whole world, The Heritage Road. Saaremaa is Estonias largest and most populous island. It is the main island of the West Estonian archipelago (Moonsund archipelago), it is located in the Baltic Sea, south of Hiiumaa island and northwest of the Gulf of Riga. The administrative center of the island, and of the Saare maakond (county), is the town of Kuressaare. Kuressaare is the administrative centre of Saaremaa Municipality and Westernmost town in Estonia. The town is situated on the southern coast of Saaremaa island, facing the Gulf of Riga of the Baltic Sea, and is served by the Kuressaare Airport, Roomassaare harbour, and Kuressaare yacht harbour. Kuressaare's historic name was Arensburg. Lõmala–Kaugatoma heritage road is a 11km scenic gravel road along Saaremaa’s western coast. But it is really more than just a gravel road. It is first whole road, restored and preserved in historic form, like it was in the 1950s. The road has authentic 1950s style road signs, kilometers posts, bus stops and milk stands. This is a unique museum exhibit, open for anyone to visit, without charge. The road was opened, in it's current form on 16'th of December 2021. The Estonian Road Museum itself is situated in a formal Varbuse postal station, operates as a part of the Estonian Road Administration in the administrative area of the Ministry of Climate. The museum was opened to visitors on June 6, 2005, and its purpose is to collect, preserve, interpret, and display items of Estonian roads, road building and traffic heritage. The museum collections contain about 43000 items, including the biggest road grader collection in Eastern Europe. https://www.maanteemuuseum.ee/en/ I ride a Honda GL1500C Valkyrie from 1997, with custom paint.
