Late fall in Alaska, this was my last flight in the Cub before winter set in, the calm before the storm, and my chance to examine the ever changing conditions of the glaciers around my home base of Valdez, Alaska. It's a beautiful day and I hope you enjoy the views as much as I do! As an experienced helicopter pilot who's very comfortable in the air, flying an airplane still feels awkward and does not come naturally for me. I think out loud and you'll hear me remind myself to think with airplane brain and note the difference in capabilities between the two machines. That being said, the Carbon Cub is a very capable machine, quite forgiving, and has outstanding performance and power. It flies more like a helicopter than any other airplane I've flown and that's ultimately why I chose it. I love learning and progressing my skill set...stick around for the landing and you'll see I even took advantage of having a long runway to land twice.
