Quality management is essential to creating value for customers. In this introductory module, Associate Professor Kevin Dittman of Purdue University's Computer and Information Technology department discusses the concept of quality and quality management in the context of project management. Quality, according to Dr. Dittman, is all about meeting and even surpassing client expectations and requirements through products and services. Quality management is a holistic approach that involves the entire organization in adhering to eight core principles: customer focus, strategic focus, leadership focus, process focus, people focus, scientific focus, continuous improvement, and systems thinking.
