2nd Balti Cultural confluence showcases Rich Heritage & Linguistic Legacy In Kargil UT Ladakh

Second Balti Cultural Confluence Showcases Rich Heritage and Linguistic Legacy in Kargil In Ladakh, the Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation (HCHF), in collaboration with the Association of Baltis in Himalayan Ladakh and Territories of Indus (ABHLTI), organized the Second Confluence of Balti Culture in Kargil at TFC Kargil. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from scholars, poets, writers, and cultural enthusiasts from Ladakh, Jammu, Uttarakhand, and Baltistan, in hybrid mode, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to preserving its heritage. Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, was the Chief Guest on thisnoccasikn. Dr. Akhoon lauded the organizers for their dedication toward promoting Balti language and traditions. He stressed the need to introduce native languages in schools and assured full support from LAHDC Kargil for such cultural initiatives. Dr. Sonam Wangchok, Founder of HCHF, said the Balti Confluence aims to connect Balti communities across India and beyond to strengthen efforts in preserving Balti language, literature, and cultural heritage. The event included paper presentations by scholars and researchers on Balti history, culture, and literature, followed by a Mushaira celebrating Balti poetry. The confluence concluded with soulful musical performances by popular Balti singer Sadiq Ali Ashoor.
