The Net Gains Foundation (NGF) harnesses the power of tennis to transform lives through character-driven leadership and service-oriented initiatives. One of its flagship programs is the RISE Project, launched in 2023. This competitive fellowship supports promising ATP and WTA players outside the Top 100 who exhibit exceptional character. The program aims to alleviate financial stress, allowing athletes to focus on training and personal growth, with an emphasis on giving back as their careers progress. Video Description: Most doubles players just “go out and play” and hope for the best. In this session, Scott takes you inside how great teams actually think on court — and shows you how to build a simple, clear plan for every match instead of guessing point by point. You’ll learn how to: Create a pre-match plan with your partner around three keys: your serve patterns, your return patterns, and one “intangible” (how you want to play as a team). Use the five play situations in tennis (serve, return, baseline, transition, defending against transition) to organize your practice and your tactics. Stop blaming single shots (like “my volley”) and instead fix the sequence that led to the problem. Understand your job in three zones: At the baseline: stay solid, avoid panic errors, and use smart patterns. In transition: stop bunting and learn to make opponents move. At the net: aim at the closest player and finish points with higher percentage choices. Think in terms of time, not distance — how far you should really move on serve-and-volley and what “follow the ball” should actually mean. Use patterns and court coverage (middle third + outside third) so you and your partner work as a unit instead of guessing. Communicate better: what to talk about between points, how to use signals, and why you should always be poaching or faking, never standing still. Use 8 ways to force errors that don’t rely only on power: consistency, direction, depth, height/trajectory, spin, court position, time, and (last) power. Make smarter serving choices based on six factors, including the score, where the returner stands, where you want the ball to come back, and the natural conditions. If you want to raise your doubles IQ, win more tight sets, and stop giving away games with low-percentage decisions, this session gives you a clear framework you can start using in your very next match.
