Simpson Desert 2025 Part 4 - Poeppels Corner to Free Camp (Eyre Creek - QAA line) (144kms)

We pack up at our camp Poeppels Corner camp and head off to the actual 'corner' to stand in the three states/territories. We grab the obligatory photos and then we are away - in the wrong direction! Luckily we figure it out and back track to be back on course. Coming across Lake Eyre is amazing, and we wind our way along the Western side with our destination the QAA line, our last turn before Big Red! The wind is blowing a gale!! Our speed and confidence is starting to increase, but so is the heat. It's damn hot, but we have plenty of water as we are a day ahead of schedule and budgeted for the full trip. Will the wrong turn and extra kms affect our fuel budget through? No choice but to push on so I guess we will find out. We finish up at a beautiful camp site (great work bro!) next to Eyre Creek on the QAA line and are treated to a cooling swim and wash down before another delicious meal. As the sun sets we have a small fire and replenish our energy. We know the next day will see us challenge Big Red, but we have little idea of what the journey holds...only time will tell.
