In this session, we reached one of the most honest and deeply personal moments in Paul’s letter to the Romans. Dr. Babu guided us through Romans 7 verses 21 to 25 and explained how Paul’s cry, “What a wretched man I am,” reflects the ongoing struggle of a mature believer, not the experience of an unbeliever. Paul exposes the painful tension every genuine Christian faces. Even with a sincere desire to obey God, believers still experience the presence of indwelling sin. This struggle does not mean failure of faith. It reveals spiritual sensitivity, humility, and a growing awareness of God’s holiness. 👉 Highlights from this session: • The believer’s honest confession. Paul’s cry of wretchedness comes from a heart that loves God’s law but feels the weight of ongoing sin. • Two laws at work. The law of the mind desires obedience to Christ, while the law of sin continues to operate in the flesh. • Mature faith and desperation. Spiritual growth increases awareness of sin even as likeness to Christ increases. • Danger of self-righteousness. A false sense of spiritual satisfaction blinds people to their true condition. • The escape through Jesus Christ. Deliverance from both the penalty and power of sin comes only through Christ. • Living between struggle and hope. The battle with sin continues throughout life, but victory is certain because of Jesus. 📖 “What a wretched man I am. Who will rescue me from this body of death. Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 7 verses 24 and 25. This session reminds us that the Christian life is marked by both struggle and hope. Honest confession keeps us humble, and constant dependence on Christ keeps us free. Our escape is not found in effort or perfection but in Jesus Christ alone.
