Something a little bit different. Endurance training is still my main training stimulus especially the bike in preparation for the 312. As a bit of fun and in an attempt to keep my S&C fresh and interesting I’ve committed to HYROX London in May. The HYROX event is one week after the Mallorca 312 and even though my main goal and focus is on cycling i am looking forward to testing the body in something a little different. I will be competing in the Men’s Doubles event with my brother in law, Sam. His strengths lie in the gym and mine, naturally, are in the 8x1K run reps. We both have to run the KM reps in between each of the 8 stations, which we will share the workload on. Big thanks to Brian Pattwell who has been coaching us and setting out our weekly sessions for the past few months. It was great to have him with us to give us some tips and advice in our simulation. A cross-fitter, PT and HYROX competitor himself he had some super food for thought. The facilities and equipment in MOVE Dungarvan are brilliant for every type of S&C you might need. Lots of classes, coaches and rooms for what you need.
