ISQOLS Webinar: Human Flourishing and the Global Flourishing Study, presented by Dr. Tyler J. VanderWeele Join the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS) for an in-depth webinar exploring the science of human flourishing and the landmark Global Flourishing Study (GFS)—one of the largest international longitudinal studies of well-being to date. In this webinar, Dr. Tyler J. VanderWeele (Ph.D., is the John L. Loeb and Frances Lehman Loeb Professor of Epidemiology in the Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Director of the Human Flourishing Program and Co-D), examines why flourishing extends far beyond narrow indicators such as income, single disease outcomes, or momentary happiness. Drawing on interdisciplinary research across the social and biomedical sciences, he presents a comprehensive framework for flourishing that includes happiness and life satisfaction, physical and mental health, meaning and purpose, character and virtue, and close social relationships, with financial stability as a key sustaining resource. A central focus of the webinar is the Global Flourishing Study, a five-wave annual panel study following more than 200,000 individuals across 22 countries, with nationally representative samples covering a large share of the world’s population. The webinar highlights early findings from the first wave and explains how the study’s open-access data is designed to support researchers, practitioners, and policymakers seeking evidence-based insights into what drives flourishing across cultures and over time. This webinar is ideal for scholars and professionals working in quality-of-life research, well-being science, public health, psychology, sociology, economics, policy, and global development, as well as anyone interested in improving how human flourishing is measured and promoted worldwide.
