A blissful 18 minutes to help your nervous system rejuvenate. I love practising yoga to calm my nervous system down. We often don't realise how overwhelmed and over-stimulated we are and taking just 15-20 minutes out of your day to practice yoga, meditation and relaxation can really help our nervous system and brain to come to a much quieter place. And the health benefits of that are immense. In this class, I share with you a little technique I learnt from Lydia Grace, a fellow yoga teacher and embodiment coach, to help access the accessory nerve. This nerve innervates the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles. It's a somatic motor function nerve so accessing it can help relieve held tension in the neck and shoulders. We also practice breath work, hip opening lunges and Psoas releases, all to send the signal to our brain and nervous system that we are safe, activating our rest and digest function.
