This level crossing is found right beneath a large road bridge which takes the M5 motorway over the estuary of the River Avon, and an interesting atmosphere is created by this and the constant noise of the traffic passing overhead. There are fairly loud alarms here, each with fairly low-pitched tones, and these seem to echo slightly as they sound due to this level crossing being underneath this bridge. This level crossing is also on an alternative access route towards the large port in Avonmouth, and is used by quite a lot of heavy goods and industrial traffic, which has made the supporting masts a little rusty. You can also notice that the barriers here oddly do not have cages attached to them This level crossing is in a slightly worse-for-wear state, since three of the four barriers here either tap or strike the floor when they lower, one of the barriers had its skirt stuck out in the raised position at the time of my visit, and this same barrier also raised quite a bit more slowly than the other three, which caused the red lights to briefly flash each time the barriers raised - a 'tail-ring' - though this did not reactivate the alarms.
