SLIK USA Customer Service Specialist, Glenn Nash, guides you through the process of replacing the leg lock on a U212 (Universal 212) tripod. To purchase parts for this or any SLIK tripod please contact customer service at support@slikusa.com Written Instructions: 1. Drive the pin (#2059) out of the leg lock lever (#3753). 2. This will enable the leaf spring (#3757) and the press chip (#3752) to fall off - these parts are re-usable. 3. Place your hand over the opening of the leg lock housing you wish to replace (either part #3889 or 3890) and slide the lower leg out. A spring (#1449) and a leg stopper (#2053 – there are two per leg lock) will come out - these parts are re-usable. Remove the leg completely. 4. Now remove the broken leg lock housing and replace it with the new one. 5. Place one of the leg stoppers (#2053) in the hole on the outside of the lower leg, and insert the leg into the upper leg. Push it in far enough to see the leg stopper through the hole in the housing. 6. Then drop the spring (#1449) into the hole so it lands inside the leg stopper already in the leg. Then place the second leg stopper (#2053) over the spring, push down and then push the leg into the upper leg. 7. Now replace the press chip (#3752) and the leaf spring (3757). 8 Align the leg lock lever (#3753) with the holes in the leg lock housing, and re-insert the pin to hold everything in place. 9 – Enjoy your rebuilt tripod.
