And if we can do that, one cup of coffee at a time, why not? The mother of a child with autism, Pamela Donovan wondered about her son’s prospects, as he transitioned into adulthood. In November 2019, Donovan opened Ethan and the Bean. Donovan believes that working in a coffee shop is a great use of Ethan’s skills and interests. than isn’t the only employee with a disability at Ethan and the Bean, young adults with disabilities make up half the staff. 'Ethan and the Bean kind of puts you right there in the front of the house. And we like when people come in and can see, hey, it's an entire population that's totally, you know, untapped for employment. We have employees here that range from autism to Asperger's to Down syndrome. Thomas is definitely a multitasker, a little bit of a perfectionist. His strong suit. He's working very hard to master latte art. That is his big focus right now. Michael is you know, he's really social. He is definitely in the front of the house.
