Let’s take you along on our 3,500 km, 4-year anniversary adventure. We had a late start on day one - it’s always hard leaving our big Boerboel boy behind. From home, we headed down the N2 to Kam’Bati, right on the Buffelsjag River. It’s a stunning campsite on the riverbank. That afternoon we played a round of putt-putt before making our first fire of the trip. The next morning, the long drive to Tankwa began. But first, a lunch stop in Montagu, a beautiful little town, before disappearing into the wide-open Karoo. We camped at Die Mond in the Tankwa, again right on the river. Peaceful, quiet, perfect. After Die Mond we made our way to the West Coast, taking the scenic road hugging the ocean. The wind was pumping that afternoon… until sunset. It was like someone literally switched the wind off. From the West Coast we stuck to the back roads all the way to Nuweputs, where we were welcomed by a flood of farm animals. A little Jack Russell adopted us for the night - even joined us for a swim in the plaasdam. Next stop: Vioolsdrift, where we found The Growcery Campsite and spent our first night on the banks of the Orange River. Fully stocked, we headed into the remote wild of the Namaqua 4x4 Eco Trail, completely off-grid, no signal, just us and nature. Our first night was at Melkhoutboom. And it started with something we didn’t expect: recovering a tourist stuck in deep river sand. Pumba pulled him out while the rooftop tent was still open! I didn’t even record it on the GoPro.. After all that excitement, we cooled off in the river and settled in around the fire. The next night we camped at Ramansdrift, completely alone. Just us, the fire, and the soundtrack of nature. Our final night on the trail was at Hartbeesmond. A thunderstorm rolled in that afternoon, but as soon as the sun set, everything calmed. Light rain fell and cooled the desert down - absolutely magical. From Hartbeesmond, we followed the route to Klein Pella, explored the farm, and took some photos in the date groves. Klein Pella really is a special place. The next morning we crossed Charlies Pass and ended the trail in Pella. On our second-last day, we visited Augrabies Falls - lush, green, and completely surreal after the dry Namaqua landscapes. For our final night we booked a guesthouse in Upington to reset before the long drive home. This trip was one for the books. We ticked off Tankwa and the Namaqua 4x4 Eco Trail from our bucket list. And yes… we’ve already started planning the next one - our biggest adventure yet. 😉 Thanks for watching, and if you enjoyed it, leave a 👍🏻 #NoWastedWeekends #beahero #djimini4pro #offroading #camping #namaquaecotrail #westcoast #tankwa #offgridcamping
