A video showing buses in Blackrock (south Dublin), recorded in February 2026. Blackrock is suburb located on the southside of Dublin city. It is bounded by Dublin Bay to the east, Monkstown [   • Monkstown Buses | February 2024  ] to the south, Stillorgan [   • Stillorgan Buses | April 2024  ] to the west, and Booterstown to the north. It has been three years [   • Blackrock Buses | February 2023  ] since the last visit to the area, and in that time a number of changes has taken place to the local bus network. Bus Connects has passed through the area twice. Phase 5B in November 2023 saw the end of route 17 and the start of new orbital route S6 which created a new connection to Tallaght. Then in January 2025, Phase 6A saw the end of routes 84 and 84A and the start of new local route L26, which created a new connection to Kilternan. The latter phase of Bus Connects also saw route 4 cut back on the northside, terminating instead at Heuston Station. At the same time, the route moved garage from Harristown to Donnybrook, with Donnybrook now operating all three Dublin Bus routes through Blackrock. Go-Ahead Ireland operate the local and orbital routes from Blackrock, while Dublin Bus operate the radial routes. Whereas Go-Ahead mainly use Wright Geminis on their services, Dublin Bus operate an eclectic mix of buses, with them dating from 2007/08 (EV Class) to 2021 (PA Class). Outside of the city network changes, Aircoach have also undergone some changes in the last three years. Route 703 to Killiney is now route 702 to Dalkey, following a failed attempt to run the route through to Bray and Greystones.
