In this video I'll show you how to make a rich chocolate cake made with self raising flour and filled with chocolate buttercream icing. This delicious chocolate cake will feed approximately 8-10 people and should keep for 2-3 days. This is a step by step chocolate cake recipe from scratch. Rich Chocolate Cake 175g/6oz Sugar 175g/6oz Butter/Margarine 150g/5oz Self Raising Flour 25g/1oz Cocoa Powder 3 Eggs For The Buttercream 110g/4oz Sieved Icing Sugar 50g/2oz Butter 1 tbsp Sieved Cocoa Powder Cream the sugar and butter or margarine together. Sieve in the flour, cocoa powder and add the eggs. Mix well. Add the mixture to two cake tins and bake in the oven at 160c/320f (Fan) 180c/356f (Conventional) Gas 4 for 25 - 30 mins. When the cakes are firm but springy to the touch remove from the oven. Leave in the tins for 5 mins then turn out onto a wire rack. Allow to cool. To make the buttercream, mix the icing sugar, butter and cocoa powder together in a bowl. Level the bottom cake with a knife. Spread the buttercream on the bottom cake and sandwich together. Lightly dust with icing sugar.
