And how many know the feeling where you express something, but you end up saying three or five times more than needed, and it actually hurts your cause instead of helping it? And how many have ever said something, but it came out in the wrong tonality and you immediately regretted it? I’ve experienced this too. One time I told a coworker “good morning,” but I said it in such a monotone way that it sounded like “fight me.” INTRO OVERVIEW In the next few minutes, I’m going to show you why this happens, how emotional experiences wire directly into the muscles of the voice, and what actually releases vocal tension at the root, not temporarily, but sustainably. CAREER IMPACT AND A MISUNDERSTOOD CONDITION Most of my life, I struggled with muscle tension dysphonia while working as a professional architect for eight years. I realized my career growth was stifled because of my speech impediment. This condition is more common than people think, often overlooked, and lacking effective long term solutions. The most common approaches are muscle relaxants or Botox injections to force the muscles to relax. But a sustainable solution only comes when we address the root cause. ROOT CAUSE: PSYCHOLOGY OVER SYMPTOMS The root cause is psychological. We do not make decisions based on logic. We make decisions based on emotion, and then justify them with logic. We are emotional creatures. Carl Jung said, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” THE ORIGIN STORY, AGE 12 When I was 12 years old, growing up in Cairo, Egypt, my Arabic teacher was explaining a difficult grammar concept. He was frustrated, and I asked a question. He exploded. He screamed and yelled. I felt deeply embarrassed in front of the class. I froze. I felt tension in my body, especially in my throat. From that moment on, anytime I had to speak to him, I became careful. I doubted myself. My confidence dropped. TRIGGERS AND THE VOICE As time went on, anyone who reminded me of that teacher triggered the same emotions. My confidence dropped. My voice changed. It wasn’t until I studied psychology that I realized this 12 year old version of me had unmet psychological needs. One of the most important was safety. SAFETY AND PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS After physical needs are met, we have emotional needs. We need safety, predictability, and protection from humiliation or threat. Imagine two versions of me. SUPPORTED CHILD He goes home, shares what happened, is heard, guided, and encouraged. He learns it is okay to ask questions and make mistakes. He moves on stronger. UNSUPPORTED CHILD He goes home alone, ruminates, self blames, and decides to stay quiet. His confidence shrinks. And so does his voice. REPARENTING AND HEALING Both faced the same event, but the outcomes were different. I realized I had to go back to that younger version of myself and reparent him. To offer guidance, safety, and support. When he felt safe again, his confidence returned. And when his confidence returned, the tension in my voice released. CLOSING The voice does not heal by forcing relaxation. It heals when the part of you that learned to stay quiet no longer feels alone. When unconscious memories are met with safety and understanding, the body no longer needs tension for protection. The throat softens. And the voice regains its natural strength. ══════════✦══════════ #️⃣ HASHTAGS: #VoiceTransformation #ConfidentSpeaking #ImproveYourVoice #VocalExercises #SoundConfident #PublicSpeakingTips #VoiceAwareness #OvercomeFearOfSpeaking #UnlockYourVoice #DynamicVoice #VocalConfidence #HowToSoundConfident #BetterVoiceControl #PublicSpeakingExercises #NaturalVocalResonance #InhibitedVoice #Communication #Career #Charisma #Relationships #Monotone #Overthinking #Oversharing #WordVomit #Dysphonia #Confidence #HossamAbostate #StifledVoice #VoiceCoaching #PublicSpeaking #Heal #SocialAnxiety #ThroatChakra #Speech #ChildhoodTrauma #DeepVoice #Stutter #SpeechTherapy #Friends #Socializing #MTD #BlockedThroatChakra #PublicSpeaking #Relationships #Dating #Sales #TightShoulders #Trauma #ToxicRelationships #Childhood #Influence #SmallTalk #Interview #Leadership
