Every shot from my round at Morlais Castle Golf Club, Pant, Merthyr Tydfil, on 11th April 2025. 👉 Many more every shot golf vlogs here    • 18 Hole, Every Shot Golf Round Vlogs   This was a course that I was very keen to play having heard great things about it. So with five rounds already in my legs over 5 days, I teed it up on a super early spring afternoon and headed out. You're immediately greeted with great views when you arrive at Morlais and that even improves once you crest the rise on the first fairway. The views to the north, looking towards Pen y Fan and the Brecon Beacons set the tone for your round with stunning vistas in all directions. The course has two loops of nine with the first being based around an old quarry whilst the second nine has a slightly more open feel with the entire course having a moorland vibe to it. The greens were in great condition despite having been treated fairly recently beforehand. All had a great consistent pace to them and were a pleasure to play on. Similarly the fairways were firm and offered good bounce and roll with the rough being fair and not too punitive. The layout is excellent with the first nine holes providing the greatest physical test, namely the second, fourth and FIFTH - a tough slog up that one!! After that the course is more manageable but buggies are available and advisable if you're a regular user. It's also probably best not to have multiple rounds in your legs as I did! A good variety of holes here at Morlais Castle too with length a common characteristic and plenty of contours adding to the character of the course. Being fairly high up I can imagine the wind can play havoc here and I was thanking my lucky stars that I played here on such a relatively calm day. Everyone I spoke to here was so friendly and as a consequence I was here for ages, solely to the many lovely chats I had with members both on and off the course! Green fees are decent value as well and all in all it was a fabulous afternoon spent at a wonderful venue. It's clear to see why it's got such a great reputation. This is definitely one you want to try and add to your played list for many reasons. I'm so glad I've experienced and captured it on a day such as the day I played.
