This is Part 7 of my Porsche 944 Turbo (951) mini restoration series, and this one is a big step forward — with a new challenge at the end. In this episode, I finally solve the AFM wiring harness routing dilemma from the previous video and continue reassembling critical systems to bring the car back to life. I fill and pressurize the coolant system, refill the power steering reservoir, reconnect the DME wiring under the dash, and reinstall both the DME and KLR modules. The good news? 👉 The car fires up successfully. The bad news? 👉 I’m now dealing with a lean condition, and this is where the real DIY work begins. This video shows an important part of the DIY process that doesn’t get talked about enough — diagnostics. Being a DIY’er isn’t just about turning wrenches. It’s about learning how to hypothesize, test, eliminate variables, and diagnose problems logically, especially on a turbocharged, 40-year-old car like the 944 Turbo. I could really use input from fellow Porsche enthusiasts and DIY mechanics: What would you check first on a 944 Turbo lean condition? Vacuum leaks? Fuel delivery? AFM issues? DME inputs? What diagnostic steps would you take next? Drop your thoughts in the comments — this channel is about learning together, mistakes included. If you’re following this restoration from the beginning, make sure you watch the earlier parts of the series to see how we got here. More testing, diagnosis, and progress are coming soon. 👍 Like the video, 💬 comment with your ideas, and 🔔 subscribe to follow the rest of this 944 Turbo revival.
