A message to unemployed graduates demanding government jobs වසර ගානක් මහන්සි වෙලා ඉගෙනගෙන ඊට පස්සේ තව වසර ගාණක් රැකියා විරහිත පෝලිමේ ඉන්න වුනොත් ඒක ගොඩක් කරුණාටුවට කරුණක්. ඒවගේම මුදල් උපයන්න පුළුවන් වයසේ ඉන්න කෙනෙක් රැකියාවක් බලාපොරොත්තුවෙන් දෙමව්පියන්ට බරක් වෙන ඒකත් ඒ අයට මානසික වදයක් වෙන්න පුළුවන්. කවුරු කොහොම කිව්වොත් ශ්‍රී ලාංකික උපාධිධාරින් දක්ෂයෝ. ඒ අය හදාරලා තියෙන්නෙ මොන සබ්ජෙක්ට් එක වුණත් උපාධියක් කරනකොට ඒ අයට analytical skills, conceptual skills, application of theory, emotional maturity, soft skills වගේ දේවල් ගණනාවක් ලැබෙනවා. හැබැයි තමන්ට යමක් කරන්න පුළුවන් කියලා prospective employer කෙනෙකුට ඔප්පු කිරීම තමයි ටිකක් අමාරු වෙන්නෙ. ඒ වගේම අපේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සමහර අය හිතාගෙන ඉන්නේ උපාධියක් ගත්තම රජයේ රැකියාවක් කිරීම තමයි හොඳම දේ කියලා, ඒ මොකද ඔයා වැඩ කරන කාලය අවසානයේදී ඔයාට ලැබෙන පෙන්ෂන් එක නිසා. ඒවගේම ඔබ passion එකක් නැතිව ගුරු වෘත්තියට ගියොතින් හරි රජයේ කාර්යාලයක “කාර්යභාරයක් නොමැති නිලධාරියෙක්” විදිහට ඉන්න වුණොතින් ඔයා අර ඉගෙන ගත්ත දෙයින් ඔයාටවත් සමාජයටවත් වැඩි ප්‍රයෝජනයක් වෙන්නේ නැහැ. ඉතින් අද වීඩියෝ එකෙන් මම කතා කරන්නේ ඔයාලා උපාධිය කරන ගමන් කරන්න පුළුවන් වෙන දේවල් වගේම පැන්ෂන් එක බලාගෙන රජයේ කන්තෝරුවක එල්ලෙනවා වෙනුවට ඔයාට අනාගතය සාර්ථක කර ගන්න හිතන්න පුළුවන් කරුණු කිහිපයක් ගැන. මතක තියාගන්න මේ මගේ මතය පමණයි. මගේ මතය හරි මතයක් කියලා දෙයක් නැහැ! The belief that a degree should automatically lead to a government job with a pension is understandable, especially given economic uncertainty. But the reality is stark: the public sector cannot absorb all graduates, pension systems are under pressure, and many government roles offer limited growth and underutilisation of talent. Taking up a job—or even a profession like teaching—without passion or purpose often leads to personal frustration and little value for society. A degree is not a queue ticket; it’s a tool. How you use it matters more than where you sit.
