Sleeping Giant Provincial Park

Just north of the border near Thunder Bay, lies a beautiful Canadian peninsula on Lake Superior. A mountain range in the park, called the Sleeping Giant, offers spectacular views of the lake and some great rustic campsites. We made a four day, almost 60 KM walk around the peninsula. Toots, a Thunder Bay resident and a veteran of these trails, guided us along the journey. While smoke from Canadian wildfires and some fog hampered the views, they did not diminish our fun. We also were able to visit with folks working at the Thunder Cape Bird Observatory. It was fascinating to hear about their work and see a bird get banded.
