[synopsis] XLII. — Burçe Karaca 20. 9. 2025 Skladateljica in instrumentalistka Burçe Karaca v pogovoru z Nežo Zupanc Gantar. / Composer and Instrumentalist Burçe Karaca in conversation with Neža Zupanc Gantar. Burçe Karaca is a Turkish composer and performer whose work bridges tradition and modernity. She first studied flute at Bilkent University’s Faculty of Music and Performing Arts during her high school years. She then graduated with honours from Başkent University State Conservatory, completing double majors in Music Theory and Piano. Karaca has taken part in numerous concerts and festivals, both as a pianist and a composer. Her piece Storm Medley, a modern reimagining of Anatolian musical heritage, was released by Leiter Verlag on World Piano Day, March 28, as part of a compilation album featuring ten composers and pianists from around the globe. As a soloist and composer, she has also performed with the MAKSAD Orchestra at the International Marmaris Culture and Arts Festival. In June 2024, her orchestral work Kybele Suite received its world premiere at the Mostly Modern Festival in New York. These diverse experiences have expanded her artistic vision and encouraged her to adopt innovative approaches in her music. Her works often integrate Anatolian motifs with contemporary compositional techniques, creating a distinctive sound world that resonates with both local and international audiences. Karaca is currently pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in Composition at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, where she continues her studies under Prof. Dr. Onur Özmen. / @burcekaraca www.abeceda.io
