If you’ve ever thought, “There has GOT to be a simpler way…” — you’re in the right place. This recipe is real, doable, and perfect for busy days on the homestead (or honestly, anywhere). Grab your bowl, skip the stress, and let’s bake something delicious! 🥖✨ Simple Rustic Sourdough Bread Ingredients • 2 cups warm water • 1/2 cup active sourdough starter • 1 tablespoon salt • 4 cups flour Instructions 1. Mix the starter and water: In a large bowl, whisk together the water and active starter until fully combined. 2. Add the salt: Stir in the salt until it dissolves. 3. Add the flour: Add the flour and mix until a shaggy, slightly sticky dough forms. Cover the bowl and let it rest for 1½ hours. 4. Stretch and fold: Perform 3–4 rounds of stretch-and-folds, spacing each round about 30 minutes apart. After the final fold, let the dough rest for 3–7 hours. 5. Shape the dough: Gently shape the dough into a round loaf and place it seam-side up in a bowl lined with parchment paper. Let it rise for 1½ hours. 6. Preheat the oven: Place your Dutch oven inside and preheat the oven to 450°F. 7. Bake: Dust the dough with flour and score your loaf. Carefully place the dough (with the parchment) into the hot Dutch oven. Bake 20 minutes with the lid on. Remove the lid and bake another 20 minutes until the crust is golden and crisp.
