In this first video we will begin to discover the scialytic lamp, starting with its history. The history of surgical lights accompanies the development of medical practices: light has always been necessary for practicing medicine, and the more surgery advances, the more light sources in the operating room must specialise. We will therefore present the main milestones in surgical history, and together we will analyse the light sources that have illuminated them: from the skylights of 19th century hospitals, to the first electric lamps, up to the invention of scialytic technology by Louis Vérain in 1919, which revolutionised the world of medical lighting.
