In this installment of 3D models for NCPTT's Documentation of Slave Cabin and Tenant Farming Houses Project, we visited McCaroll Place in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Standing for over 180 years, the McCarroll Place in Holly Springs, Mississippi is believed to have been constructed as early as 1833 possibly by Byrd Hill then later relocated to its present location by his brother-in-law, John R. McCarroll, around 1840. McCarroll was twice sheriff of Marshall County. Newer research suggests the structural offerings of the original home were that of two log cabins circa 1840, which were connected by a porch. Behind the home lies the slave quarters and brick kitchen that date back to the 1850s. The single-story Greek Revival-style architecture is suggested to have been added later. McCarroll descendants occupied the home in 2018. NCPTT laser scanned this building using the Faro Focus S Laser Scanner to produce this video 3D flythrough model of the building's digital point cloud. - - NCPTT's Links: Website - https://www.nps.gov/subjects/ncptt/in...
