Report on the Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) Dissemination Session in Balochistan A comprehensive session on the dissemination of the Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) was conducted in Balochistan by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan in collaboration with the UNESCO Country Office Pakistan. On the directions of the Relief Commissioner / Director General, PDMA Balochistan, a coordination meeting regarding the dissemination of the Flood Early Warning System was organized. The meeting was chaired by the Director (Planning & Rescue), PDMA Balochistan. The Deputy Director, PDMA Balochistan, Mr. Asghar Ali Jamali, also participated in the session. Representatives from various UN agencies, government line departments, and community members attended the meeting. During the session, the Deputy Director, PDMA Balochistan, shared details of the FEWS dissemination mechanism currently being implemented in Balochistan. He also highlighted the key challenges faced by PDMA in disseminating early flood warnings during the Floods of 2022. The Chair emphasized that the objectives of the Flood Early Warning System cannot be achieved without coordinated and collective efforts. He stressed that every stakeholder must play an active role in the effective dissemination of early warnings so that potential losses and damages caused by floods can be minimized.
