At the northern tip of Big Brother Island lies the wreckage of the SS Numidia, an English cargo ship that ran aground here in 1901 and sank a few weeks later. With a length of 137 meters, a width of 16.7 meters, a maximum draft of 9.2 meters, and ultimately a size of 6,399 gross register tons (GRT), the Numidia set sail on July 6, 1901, with a crew of 97 under the command of Captain J. Craig from Liverpool to Calcutta. Among other things, the ship carried materials for the expansion of the railway network in the English colony. Approximately 40 meters down, the stern section of the wreck begins, extending further downward. At a depth of 70 to 80 meters, you can find the ship's propeller, which is too deep for recreational divers.
