Since no one in their families came from a business background, the chances had seemed slim. They were still students, studying at King’s College in Kathmandu. But then a coincidence occurred. They were required to do a college project — one that had to be sustainable. Prakriti remembered some bamboo products that had been in her home for years. These items had been passed down from the previous generation. “Bamboo products are sustainable. They don’t harm the environment either,” she thought, and chose bamboo for the project. That’s where their journey began — a journey that has now become a full-fledged business. What started with just fifty thousand rupees is now generating business worth lakhs. Their team, which began with just the two of them, has now grown significantly.
