Exploring the potential of generative AI in research and science communication

In this lunch talk by SciComm Academy and VAIA, we will explore the potential opportunities and limitations of generative AI in (academic) research and science communication. Starting from a non-technical explanation of how popular generative AI models – such as ChatGPT – work, we will shed light on the opportunities and risks of this new technology. At the end of this talk, you will have gained insights on how AI can help you conduct research, write and illustrate results and even communicate about your findings! Andres Algaba is an FWO postdoctoral researcher and guest lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. As a data scientist, he investigates artificial intelligence algorithms with a focus on their reliability and transparency.
