The line begins at its southern terminus, Admiralty Station, and travels through key commercial and transport hubs such as Central, Wan Chai, and Hung Hom. It continues through central Kowloon and the new towns of the eastern New Territories, including Sha Tin, Tai Po, Fanling, and Sheung Shui, before reaching its northern termini at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations, two border checkpoints where passengers can cross into Shenzhen in Mainland China.
