The period between reaching out for emotional help and securing resources that might aid in a reduction of life stressors or accessing needed mental health care can be a time of high risk for individuals. This session explores the aspects of providing comprehensive follow-up care to those who have been seen in an array of crisis settings and highlights some of the effective tools that can be used in this work. During this important time in the life of someone in crisis, filling this gap in care can lead to positive outcomes in this population and to the mental health system overall. In 2014, with a partnership between Centerstone and the Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Tennessee Foundation, we first began to evaluate a focus on crisis follow-up. Examples of how we have done this work will be reviewed including information on three distinct Pathway have developed in our follow-up work. In addition, a literature review of how the brain is impacted after a mental health or suicide crisis will be reviewed. Becky Stoll leads both administrative and clinical operations for Centerstone’s multi-state footprint with more than three decades of experience in crisis services, disaster mental health, and suicide prevention and has worked at Centerstone since 1999, previously holding the positions of vice president of crisis and disaster management, director of crisis services, and crisis call center program manager.
