The first bake!! Watch me bake the chocolate chip cookie recipe below. Tips for baking with Parkinson's Disease. I was diagnosed in 2016 and as an avid baker, have learned to adapt my baking to my progressing elements of PD. Come join a fellow PD Traveler on my journey Shaking and Baking with Parkinson's 2.5 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 0.5 teaspoon salt 0.75 cup (1.5 sticks) unsalted butter, melted 0.75 cup granulated sugar 1 cup packed light brown sugar 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract 2 large eggs 1.5 cups chocolate chips (I use semi-sweet) Pre-heat oven to 350° F (175 C) In stand mixer with paddle attachment, add the melted butter, and both sugars on medium high for 1 minute While mixer is on medium, add eggs one at a time and vanilla and let mix for a minute. (This step is a little different and honestly I am not sure if has any effect at all, but it is just the way I do it) Add baking powder, baking soda and salt and mix until combined Scrape down the sides of bowl Add the flour and mix until just combined With rubber spatula add in the chocolate chips This dough does not need to be chilled Scoop 1 heaping Tablespoon of dough onto sheet pan lined with parchment or silicone mats (I prefer silicone). Leave at least 2 inches between balls of dough (I normally put 6 scoops on a half sheet pan). Bake for 10-11 minutes or until the edges just start to brown. *Cooking times may vary based on oven and altitude Let rest on pan 4-5 minutes before moving to cooling rack to cool completely.
