The couple faced several trials: famine in Canaan, a perilous sojourn in Egypt, and conflicts with their neighbors. But the greatest challenge remained the lack of an heir. Faced with God's silence for years, Sarai suggested to Abram that he have a child with her Egyptian servant, Hagar. From this union, Ishmael was born. However, God clarified that he was not the heir of the promise: the child must be born from the union of Abram and Sarai. Three mysterious visitors (representing God) announced that Sarah would have a son the following year. Hearing this from behind the tent, Sarah laughed skeptically because of her 90 years. Yet, the miracle occurred: Isaac (whose name means "He will laugh") was born, bringing joy to the couple.
