Can you believe the one person in front of you is the agent for the whole universe? 지금 당신과 인연 맺고 있는 바로 그 사람이 부처님이며 한 분의 거룩하신 신과도 같다면 어떤가? What if the very person you're related to is a Buddha and a holy God? 그렇다! 온 우주의 그 모든 존재는 크고 작고, 영향력이 있고 없고를 떠나 그 한 존재 속에 우주를 머금고 있는 무한의 존재다. Yes! All that existence of the universe is an infinite one having the universe in itself, whether large or small, influential or not. 이를 화엄경에서는 일미진중함시방(一微塵中含十方)이라고 하여, 한 티끌 속에 온 우주가 담겨 있다고 설한다. There contains the entire universe in a speck, as Hwaeomgyeong refers to it as. 세상 모든 이들이 사실은 따로 따로 떨어진 존재가 아니라 서로 연결되어 있는 전체로써의 하나다. Everyone in the world is actually not a separate being, but a whole connected to each other. 연결된다는 것은 곧 하나임을 의미하며, 하나로 연결된다는 것은 곧 사랑한다는 것을 뜻한다. Being connected means being one; being connected as one means loving. 내가 누군가와 인연을 맺는다는 것은 곧 그와 깊이 연결된다는 것이고, 그를 사랑하기 시작했다는 것이며, 그와의 인연을 통해 이 세상과 사랑에 빠졌음을 의미한다. To have a connection with someone means that I am deeply related to him, that I start to love him, and that I have fallen in love with this world through the relationship with him. 내가 그를 향해 따뜻한 사랑의 말 한마디를 나눌 때 사실은 온 우주에게 사랑을 건네는 것이다. When I tell him a word of warm love, it is true that I’m giving love to the whole universe. 감사와 칭찬의 한 마디를 건넬 때 전 우주에게 감사하고 있는 것이다. When I give him a word of gratitude and praise. I’m grateful to the whole universe. 우주법계는 우리에게 크고 거창한 일을 기대하는 것이 아니라, 바로 이처럼 내 앞의 단 한 사람을 사랑하고, 내 앞의 현실을 온전히 살아내기를 기대하고 있다. The great universe of Buddhism does not expect us to do something big and great, but rather to love the only person in front of me and to fully live the reality. 내 앞에 있는 보잘 것 없는 단 한 사람에게 따뜻한 말 한 마디를 건넬 때 When we say a warm word to the humble man in front of me, 길 위에서 죽어가는 길고양이에게 음식을 건넬 때 when we give food to a dying cat on the road, 사실 우리는 온 우주 전체를 향해 사랑을 나누고 있는 것이다. we are actually sharing love with the whole universe. 대단하고 영향력 있는 사람이 되어야지만 이 세상을 위해, 우주를 위해 큰 도움을 줄 수 있는 것이 아니다. Even being a great and influential person is not all that can help the world and the universe with. 우리는 매 순간 우리가 만나는 모든 인연에게 어떻게 말하고 행동하는지 하는 이 사소한 일상을 통해 우주에 기여하고 있고 이 우주를 밝히고 있다. We are contributing to and illuminating this universe through this trivial routine of how to speak and act to every person we meet. 내 앞에 바로 온 우주가 있다. There's a whole universe right in front of me. 즉사이진(卽事而眞), 촉목보리(觸目菩提), 지금 만나고 있는 이 현실이 곧 진실이며 눈에 부딪치는 것이 그대로 깨달음이라는 뜻이다. This means that the reality we are meeting is the truth, and that what is seen with our eyes is the great enlightenment, as it is. 당신은 바로 이 평범한 일상을 통해 진리를, 부처를, 우주 전체를 만나고 있다. You are meeting the truth, the Buddha and the whole universe through this normal routine. 눈앞에 있는 일체 모든 존재가 성스럽고 장엄하며 존귀한 존재들이다. All beings in front of us are holy, majestic, and honorable. 따로 존재하는 진리를 찾거나, 거룩한 부처님을 찾거나, 장엄한 신을 찾지 말라. Do not seek the truth, the holy Buddha, or the majestic God from a distance. 그것은 언제나 지금 여기에 있다. They’re always right here right now. 내가 만나는 모든 이들, 인연 맺는 모든 이들 그들이 바로 그것이다. They are all the people I meet and all the people I’m related to. 이것이 바로 매 순간 깨어있어야 하는 이유이며, 매 순간 자비를 실천해야 하는 이유이고, 잘났다거나 못났다고 하는 차별 없이 모든 이들을 사랑으로 대해야 하는 이유다. This is why I should stay awake every minute, and why I should practice mercy every moment, and why I should treat everyone with love without any discrimination, whether they are good or bad. #buddha #buddhist #buddhism #meditation #healing #happy #sermon
