If you would like to support me, I am raising money for surgery in Spain: https://gofund.me/045d82ea Section 33: Doddington to Ford Starting from the lay-by on the outskirts of Doddington, I first make my way to the creepy church of St Mary and St Michael; a rare example of a church with an altar placed in the West rather than the East. Upon leaving, I discover two grave markers from late Saxon / early Norman. I take in the village well and cross before visiting Doddington Bastle, a 12th century Pele tower / tower house that collapsed in the late 19th century during a storm. After a long road walk, I reach Routin Lynn with its Mesolithic rock carvings and waterfall. I make my way up the Goat Crags to see the Mesolithic animal carvings before following Broom Ridge to Ford Moss nature reserve and former coal mine. Finally, I conclude the section outside Ford castle. To be continued...
