14 HOURS IN Q-SUITE Qatar Airways 777-300ER Business Class from Melbourne to Doha

Join me as I fly Qatar Airways’ Qsuite Business Class on the 777-300ER from Melbourne to Doha — a flight that perfectly shows both why Qatar is so highly regarded, and where it can fall short. The food was easily the highlight of the entire journey. Creative yet simple dishes, cooked to perfection and made with genuinely high-quality ingredients — some of the best business class catering I’ve had. The Qsuite itself continues to impress, with an incredibly spacious seat that’s excellent for both lounging and sleeping. The inflight entertainment was good, but the standout feature was the free Starlink Wi-Fi, which was fast, reliable, and a huge plus on a flight this long. Onboard service was okay, but not especially warm or friendly. The ground experience in Melbourne was more disappointing. The Marhaba Lounge was overcrowded, unattractive, and had poor food, with long waits to get in — though thankfully the Qantas Lounge was a much better option. My interaction with Qatar’s ground staff was also unpleasant, particularly in how filming was handled. So while Qatar delivers an exceptional hard product and incredible food, the overall experience had some notable inconsistencies. Let’s take a closer look.
