After my cholesterol, LDL and ApoB numbers shocked me, I shared the results publicly — and the response was overwhelming. Hundreds of comments. Conflicting opinions. Strong emotions. In this video I cover: • Why cholesterol and LDL responses differ so much between people • The role saturated fat (especially coconut fat) played in my case • Why I’m not quitting low-carb or high-fat • My shift toward a Mediterranean-style low-carb diet • Retesting blood work in 3 months • Considering CAC and CIMT scans for artery health • Why exercise still matters — even when fear kicks in • How I’m documenting this journey openly at 64 My Numbers in U.S. Units mg/dL Before - on 10 mg statin Marker mg/dL Total Cholesterol 131 mg/dL LDL-C 58 mg/dL HDL-C 54 mg/dL Triglycerides 74 mg/dL Conversions: After 10 months high-fat - same statin dose Marker mg/dL Total Cholesterol 282 mg/dL LDL-C 201 mg/dL HDL-C 58 mg/dL Triglycerides 66 mg/dL ApoB Conversion ApoB is often reported in mg/dL internationally, but the U.S. sometimes uses mg/dL or g/L. My ApoB: 1.33 g/L = 133 mg/dL Optimal ApoB: • 80 mg/dL or lower = low risk • 80–100 mg/dL = moderate • 100 mg/dL or higher = elevated risk I am at 133 mg/dL, which is well into the “high-risk” category. This isn’t medical advice. It’s lived experience, shared honestly — in real time. If you’re over 50, low-carb, and trying to rebuild metabolic health without hype or extremes, you’re not alone. #cholesterol #keto #lowcarb #ldl #apob #hearthealth #over50health #metabolichealth
