Substance use navigators Allie Fitzsimmons and Emma Dennie from Tahoe Forest Hospital share a clear, hands on demonstration of how to recognize an opioid overdose and respond using Naloxone, also known as NARCAN®. You will learn common warning signs like slowed or stopped breathing, unresponsiveness, and changes in skin color, as well as why Naloxone is safe to use even if you are unsure what substances are involved. This video explains how to position the person, administer the nasal spray, and when to give a second dose. You will also hear important guidance on calling 911, providing rescue breaths, and placing someone in the recovery position while you wait for help to arrive. Ally and Emma emphasize the importance of carrying NARCAN®, offering support without judgment, and knowing your protections under the Good Samaritan law. Free NARCAN® is available through Tahoe Forest Pharmacy and the Emergency Room registration desk. This short training can help you act with confidence and potentially save a life.
