High Mountain Wilderness Lake Camping Adventure with Pack Goats & Dogs Firebox Stove Cooking, Baking

Time away from all the stressors of daily life is essential to my well being. I haven't found anywhere better than the wilderness to escape the man made chaos we constantly face in this modern age (lately, the dial has been turned up to eleven). I get through it knowing that peace, quiet, and true solitude can be found and enjoyed out in the wild, camping under the stars, and cooking over the wood flame of a campfire. I like some conveniences as well as peace of mind in knowing that I'm keeping my experience in line with no trace ethics by using a campfire type stove, which in itself has become my lifelong obsession. I love finding new ways to use my inventions - Firebox Stoves. I generally spend some of my camping time engaged in experiments, working towards improvements or new ways to expand already amazing versatility while also enjoying some very delicious food. This trip was special in the fact that I made a breakthrough for the Firebox HEX Stove Reflector Oven Kit. While I have had successful baking sessions, I haven't achieved good results consistently without a lot of fiddling. I've needed more heat above, which I realized needed to come from below where it could then convect up the back and into the upper area of the oven. All this extra low heat meant that I needed a lot more insulation under my baking pan. I tried a pizza stone, which was still too hot so I added a layer of titanium under the stone which worked quite well, but was quite heavy and you needed to spend quite a bit of time heating it up prior to baking. I decided to try an air bake style pan to save weight and greatly reduce the warm-up period while also increasing the amount of insulation exactly where I needed it. The new pan was the key to consistent success. I did two back to back baking sessions, each with somewhat different conditions and had very similar results. in both tests I achieved quick baking times and balanced heat results! Golden Brown on the bottom and spots of golden brown on top. Perfection! I couldn't be happier with how this reflector oven set up has turned out and now with this airbake style pan the performance is really high. Many of you have made suggestions, and while I may not have used your suggestion, it has played a big part by fueling consideration, which can and often does lead to inspiration which is where breakthroughs generally come from. The Firebox HEX-Stove Reflector Oven Kit is like icing on the cake of an already fun and very effective camp cooking experience. Now you can bake while also cooking or boiling on the main part of the stove. It's like an Easy Bake Oven for "dudes". Not that you need to be a guy to enjoy cooking with this system, but there is something special about cooking with fire that I have a passion for.
